El Carmen

One of the most emotional ceremonies in honour of the patron saint of the sea is the sailors’ procession on La Graciosa– a little island to the north-west of Lanzarote. Although it has a surface area of no more than 30 km2 and houses only two villages, its inhabitants put all their heart into this celebration.

After the festivities, there is nothing like a dip in the turquoise waters of this very special island.

The windy season

Your July holidays are one of the best times for getting out your sail or kite and taking to the waters of the Canary Islands. At this time of year, you will be accompanied by the trade winds and the coastal breeze will propel you through the waves. That is why several windsurf and kitesurf competitions take place during this period.
