Travelling to the
Canary islands inSeptember

What do you think of when you hear the word “September”? For us, September holidays bring to mind beaches, sun and plans for enjoying the good weather, such as a stroll through a winery, tasting wines with a local D.O. or a visit to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote or Fuerteventura to pay homage to their patron saints… and join in the festivities!

Grape picking season
is here

Did you know that wines from the Canaries appeared way back in the works of William Shakespeare? Their extraordinary flavour —from old varieties of grape that survived the phylloxera— has made them a point of reference for the sector. If you would like to see for yourself how a product with a designation of origin is made, we suggest a guided tour around one of our wineries during your holidays on the Canary Islands. Some of them are as impressive as the wine itself.

Yes, this is officially the month that marks the arrival of rain and grey days… but if you travel to the Canary Islands in September, you will discover a climate so warm and pleasant that you will have no problem continuing with your favourite summer activities: going to the beach for a good swim, discovering the architecture of our towns and villages, or taking a boat ride out to see the whales and dolphins.

In the Canary Islands in September, we also hold some of our most fascinating festivities. On the 8th, we travel to the colonial town of Teror to honour the patron saint of Gran Canaria. On the 15th, we go to Lanzarote to take part in the pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin “de los Dolores” —who is said to have stopped the rivers of lava that threatened to destroy the village of Tinajo. And finally, on the 19th, we join in the pilgrimage to the shrine of the patron saint of Fuerteventura, accompanied by music and good food.
